Awake and Waiting....

Elle looked at the device. Even though Amy's voice was gentle and calming she couldn't help but be a little scared. She glanced from Amy to the device in her hand. She didn’t understand how this thing would be able to tell Amy anything about her health. She was even a bit scared that it may explode into a fiery monster like Amy's other gizmo.

"Oh baby, don't worry anymore. You won't ever see him again. You're with me now. You're safe." [/i][/b]

Elle felt something tingle through her skin. What was it about Amy that made her feel safe? She believed Amy when she said she would never see him again, but something prickled at the back of her neck. A nagging feeling as if he would come and get her while Amy's back was turned.

Elle couldn’t help but flinch when Amy picked her up under her armpits, but when she realised she was just picking her up to put her on the counter she relaxed a little. Elle glanced around the room for a second before looking back at Amy was she spoke. This place as so different from her previous home. To her it was amazing such a warm kind and safe place existed. She only knew of cold and darkness through the very short time she had been alive.

"Now I need to check you, so take a deep breath, then stay still until I am done."[/i][/b]

Elle blinked a couple of times before taking in a deep breath, one of those really dramatic inhaling of air. She kept her body as still as she could but her eyes watched Amy with a slight fear as she placed the sensor to her forehead. Elle looks up so she was looking slightly cross eyed at it. It beeped and she had to use all her strength to not flinch. She glanced from the sensor to Amy then back to the sensor.

Suddenly Elle noticed a burning sensation in her chest. She was still holding her breath and she left like it was going to burst. Her eyes where tearing up a little as she fidgeted slightly. The need to gasp for air was getting unbearable and when it beeped again and Amy took the Sensor away she pretty much gasped for air, her lungs burning with gratitude.

Once she had got her breath steadied she looked at Amy. She looked somewhat defeated. What was wrong? Maybe she was going to shut down? It would be a lie if Elle said she wasn’t upset about the idea. But strangely she felt like she had to comfort Amy. 'It would hopefully be quick? Maybe this is normal?' [/i]She thought, 'I wish I had more time...' [/i]

Elle couldn’t look at Amy without feeling a pain in her chest. She didn’t understand why but she wanted to make that look go away. “It is okay” She said it softly as if scared if she spoke any louder she would upset Amy. “I do not mind shutting down...” It wasn’t a complete lie. After all she had not lived much to know what she would miss. It made her sad to think that her sure time would be gone and there would not be any evidence that she was even once there. Right now she would of said anything to make that look on Amy's face go away.

There really only was one thing to do. No matter how much Amy hated the thought, she knew that she would at least have to suspend Elle in a sort of digital limbo. If Amy didn't, then the risk to Elle's life would be even greater. The promise was already made, that meant Elle would never shut down completely. But at this point, a suspension was the only hope.

With a forlorn look, Amy turned around, the reached into a pocket of her tool belt. This occasion wouldn't require the cabinets, she kept such a tool on herself at all occasions. Rather slowly, she turned back around, and then said at a barely audible whisper, without looking in Elle's quivering eyes,

"I'm so sorry Elle, but don't worry. You won't be shut down forever, you'll wake up again. Just think of it as taking a long nap, if you know what that is."

After that line, Amy gave off a dejected sigh, this was, for whatever reason, heart-wrenching. Even if she had just met this mechanoid girl, Amy felt as if there was already a connection between the two, like they were childhood friends. To have to disable her now, it was crippling to the emotions.

Amy was now looking a little to the right of Elle, still at the wooden floor. Continuing in her sad, lost voice, she said,

"As you sleep, you'll begin to be conscious of bits of knowledge, at least I hope. You'll learn a lot, so I hope you enjoy it."

With a last quiver of sadness, Amy steeled her nerves as she thought "Do it now, before you second guess yourself."

She quickly raised her head back up to look at Elle, using up her last bit of courage. Tears began to brim in her eyes as she raised her left hand, which contained the neutralizer.

"Goodnight, dear." Amy thrust the device onto Elle's chest and a small burst of blue lightning erupted, tangling around the air in it's small radius. She threw her head to the left again as she deactivated the mechanoid, tears finally coming out.

Now wasn't the time to cry though. Amy set down her wicked tool on the table, then picked up Elle's now slumped figure. She held the little girl like she would a baby, and quickly went to the star ship bay. These crafts were strictly forbidden from use, but Amy didn't care now, she really just wanted to get home.

She picked a near one, then checked to see if it had enough supplies for the trip. Thoroughly assured of this, Amy set down Elle on a nearby chair in the cockpit of the small vessel, and then dashed down the stairs. In an increasing haste, she went to her lodgings, then lab, collecting anything she required.

Several people were coming back to the ship, all dressed up in their white lab coats and looks of disappointment at the excursion. As they say Amy, the asked what she was doing, or what was going on, or what her haste was for.

They were promptly ignored.

Even the head scientist was skipped over as Amy began to head back to Elle. Typically, the man decided to give chase. At first it was just him, yelling as he ran down the halls after Amy. Amidst the chaos of people, a few other scientists were smart enough to move out of the way, and one or two joined their boss. Even a number of guards began to chase as the sense of a problem began to arise.

Near the end of the race down the metallic hallways, both parties were at a dead sprint. Much to the pursuers dismay, Amy was able to lock the door to the dock behind her. She placed a small device on the door that somehow made it incredibly difficult to open.

Over the slamming of guards against the newly created barrier, the head scientist could hear Amy say "You're spaceship sucks!"

She calmly walked to her escape car. At a leisurely pace, she made her way up the ship's entrance stairs, then to the cockpit. With the click of a few buttons, the bay's exit opened, and Amy fired up the engines. The system was remedial and had a rather advanced auto-pilot, so she didn't have to worry much about her inability to fly.

The guards finally opened the door, only to see a ship flying out into endless space. Within the ship, Amy set the auto-pilot's course for Eritseas, then laid down to relax. Really to no one in particular, she lightly sighed out the words,

"Elle, we're going home now."
