Rule #7 of exploring unknown worlds clearly states: "DO NOT COLLECT UNREGISTERED MECHANOIDS!"
Sparx was very familiar with that rule. Usually, he never collected anything that could prove detrimental to his poor human health. He steered clear of all types of plants, animals, insects, bodies of water, bodies of land, bodies of anything that wasn't his as a matter of fact. Were anything to jump out at him, his biggest was being unable to scream loud enough to alert anyone who could save him.
Yet and still, for some reason, he now had an unregistered Mechanoid in his bunker; eating ham sandwiches, smashing his toasters, and who knows what else. Not only that, but he'd spent this entire morning fighting for ownership over ELLE. There was no way in hell would he allow the Engineers of Sigma Sector get their hands on her. They were the Mechanoid experts, yes, but Sparx knew all those creepy men wanted to do was fiddle with every piece and part of her delicate artificial skin, even if it meant taking her apart.
NO!
None would touch ELLE so long as he was here. He'd presented this to the board along with all the observations he'd made over the past 12 hours of having her in his possession, but the board wouldn't budge. It made more sense to turn ELLE over to the Sigma Engineers. It was safer that way, and they had all the necessary tools and experience to deal with her.
At the end, there was nothing the young scientist could do. The Board made all ruling decisions, and not even he could challenge their authority.
Sparx returned to his room hoping to find Elle still in one piece. There was a lot they needed to talk about, and a lot they needed to prepare for.
The brown-haired human looked physically exhausted after his meeting. His auburn hair hung tiredly around his glasses. With a heavy sigh and a forced smile, he called out to the mysterious Mechanoid.
”Hey, Elle. You awake?”
