~Can absolute darkness truly exist?~ Sean wondered this as he sat in the cockpit of his personalized space explorer. Though his ship had some resemblances to standard Alliance Craft of this type, his had some striking features that differentiated it from the rest. For one, the craft was much more streamline than that of standard Explorers, which allowed it to reach higher speeds than the rest. Also, the craft's warp-drives exceeded the Alliance quad-engine by Two. Along with the standard engine being on the wings, nose and tail of the craft, the Wyvern Explorer had two additional drives; one just behind the cockpit and one right beneath the neck of the craft.
Internally, the bridge can seat six crew members; a pilot, navigator, warp engineer, gunman, power engineer, and shield engineer along with four passenger seats. The common area on the first level of the ship is a wide space with a kitchen and dining area attached along with stairs leading towards the second level and the sub-level.
The second level of the ship is a long hallway with six small-apartment-sized rooms, all with personal bathrooms connected, and behind a door towards the end of the hallway is a wide recreational area mostly used for sparring and weapon practice. The lower-level of the ship is another long hallway with four small-apartment-sized bedrooms, all with personal bathrooms connected. The rest of the lower-level is a wide storage area along with a service compartment down into the ship’s core.
Sean previously engaged the ship's Automated piloting system, which allowed him the freedom to relax in the common are just outside the bridge. He sat in the brightly lit room, which only seemed more so with the contemporary interior design. If it wasn't for the long windows along the wall closest to the stairways and the opposite wall showing a view of the bright and vast star-filled abyss, one could easily forget they were even in the endless void of space.
Sean lounged back in a comfortable-looking chair with his legs crossed at the ankles as he rested his feet atop the mahogany coffee-table. ~"I should see about getting a television and a game-system in here."~ He said with a smirk as he thumbed through a slender data-pad. His face seemed frustrated as he toyed with the high-tech device. When he first received the pad it was fast and efficient, yet he barely understood how to use it. Now, with a bit more experience with the device, its a lot slower than normal and more frustrating than ever.
It was about a three second delay between the time he'd swipe his finger across the screen and for the screen to actually move. Opening new pages seemed to take hours and the taunting loading screen never failed to laugh at his inexperience. Even so, Sean struggled through to get to his notes. "Never buy used electronics..." He moaned aloud as he thumbed through the data on the pad.
It had been almost an hour since Sean and Kairu departed from the Alliance Outpost on towards their new destination. Sean was a bit hesitant to leave, however, after escorting an entire fleet of beautiful women to the outpost. It would be a lie to say he wasn't somewhat upset at himself for not trying to get a number or a name or something...
He sighed...
He always seemed to let the girls escape his grasp. Why did he have to be so shy in their presence? Why was he not more outgoing and sociable? Even if he did manage to attract the attention of one from the opposite sex, could he even hold a conversation with that person? An interesting one, anyway...
~"Oh well..."~ He thought to himself without realizing that he wasn't even paying attention to his notes anymore. His eyes happened to glance over towards Kairu's direction, but he made a point to avoid eye-contact with the swordsman. Sean wanted to be that type of cool. The strong, silent, swordsman-type. Kairu was an enigma when he entered his own little world, and that's what drives the women crazy. He wondered how popular he was with the women, but he dared not ask. That would definitely be an awkward conversation even after showing how immature Sean still really was...
The soldier sighed again before going back over his notes. He stopped once more when his young eyes caught a glimpse of what they were looking for. "I feel bad for dragging you out here like this, Kairu." He said with a bit of a laugh as he kept reading his notes. "The reason why I'm out is because I'm hunting down a... well... I don't even know what they are really... I want to say evil robots but... that doesn't exactly sound... ya know?"
The young man shook his head slowly, feeling stupid for sharing his suspicions with a stranger. All the other soldiers thought Sean was a misguided teen who let his skill get to his head, but Sean was certain there was something to the rumors he picked up on. He just had to investigate.
"Well, since we're on the subject of hard-to-believe situations, why don't you tell me more about what it is that attacked your home world."
