As Krad made his way down the wide and tall corridor he followed the torch light down the claw-colored pathway with a haste; his sword held in an active position in his right hand in case he needed to strike down anything that may try to stand in their way. It seemed the pathway was solid sandstone. No dust of pools of sand seemed to penetrate this virgin hallway.
The walls were absent of any scratches or imperfections and stretched a good fifteen feet high to the dark ceiling where the fiery torches failed to illuminate. Krad could hear the stress of Meiling's breathing. She wasn't physically conditioned for this type of endurance. Not only were they doing a lot of running, but fighting as well. Not to mention her little aerial act a few moments ago.
Finally, it seemed like they were nearing the end of the corridor, but then Krad's quick pace slowed once he realized it was a dead-end. He walked all the way to the wall and pressed his free hand against it. It was solid and completely bare. No cracks, no markings, no nothing. Just a wall. Just a stupid fucking wall! ~What now...?~ He thought to himself as his eyes looked for anywhere that might be a secret passage or a keyhole, or somewhere that he could just start hammering away until he could smash through the rock.
And that's when he felt it.
The vibrations on the floor caused his nerves to chill over. The walls vibrated with heavy footsteps and the floor beneath them trembled with fear. Krad whirled around with his sword pointed forward towards the hallway. He stood defensively in front of Meiling, but couldn't tell exactly what she was doing. She was still playing with the wall. Maybe her Myrthra instincts were keying in on something his human senses could not.
His hands tightened around the grip of his mighty weapon as the trembling floor became more active, signally that whatever was coming was very big and was very close. The footsteps were getting louder, and could even be heard now echoing through the halls. Krad felt nervous for a moment, but at the same time, he realized Meiling wasn't panicking. She was doing something that took all her attention, and that helped Krad calm down.
He trusted that she figured something out. He had faith that his partner was doing something constructive, and he would protect her with his very life if need be. His stance steadied: a determination not for battle, but to protect one he cared for flared in his deep blue eyes. But then, that's when a strange light came from behind him.
Stunned, he looked over his shoulder to see Meiling holding a heart-sized orb of luminous white light. This energy felt so... pure and calming; like a warm Sunday evening on a grassy knoll with the breeze from a nearby river filling your lungs. The feeling that small orb of light emitted made his dark heart pain, but his tortured soul heal.
She pushed this light into the wall, and then he could see it. He could see the strange markings being drawn onto the solid stone forming the picture of something. As the picture completed itself,, it looked like an angel. Krad could only stare in pure amazement as a crack formed; dividing the heavy wall into two doors, which Meiling struggled to push open. Before Krad could even realize she needed help, the wall was being pushed open like a mighty stone door.
The footsteps were much louder down the hall as if they were right on top of them. Krad had to act fast. He stepped over to Meiling and assisted her with his free hand; which caused the heavy door to give way and allowed them to slip into another chamber.
He quickly spun into the room as Meiling slipped in beneath him and he pushed hard with one hand to close the heavy door. The muscles on his caramel brown arm were fully flexed as he used all his strength to shut the mighty door. It closed with an echoed clank, and the blue-haired adventurer took a cautious step backwards in hopes that would slow down whatever was chasing them.
As he walked backwards, his tunnel vision gave way and he began to take in his surrounding area. The room was about the same size as the previous, but dome-shaped. Finally, they seemed to escape the notorious crimson snowflakes that caused them so much stress. This room seemed to be sealed off even from them.
Instead of torch light, this room glowed with a brilliant serene light that brought out the clay color of the walls and floors. There were carvings all over the walls and ceilings; each seeming to depict a different person or life form. What stood out the most was the intricate details of the many different races. Myrthra, Human, Elusyians, and even some races Krad failed to recognize. There must have been hundreds or even thousands of different images.
How could such a library of so many races be collected in once solitary place? It was then that Krad's focus fell on the middle of the room. Resting there was what seemed like the centerpiece of the hall. Nestled between two sand-colored statues, one of a human male seemingly depicted as a knight facing the other; a heavenly angelic figure with relaxed wings and folded hands. They had no faces, but it seemed like if they did, they would be smiling at each other. Between them rested a strange rock.
The outer shell of this stone was an earthy brown and looked completely impenetrable, but deeper within the rock, a luminous blue light could be seen hidden beneath the rocky surface. This blue light seemed to flicker and move, as if something alive was swimming about within it.
This would be the moment that, unbeknownst to Krad, his Myrthra companion would suddenly be engulfed with that same spiritual light that she used to unlock this secret chamber. This light would seal her away from the mortal realm and bring her to a warm alternate reality of pure white for as far as the eye can see.
Within this empty realm, there would stand a large windy-colored wall with ancient marking covering every inch of it. She would recognize this as an ancient language long dead from the memory of any sentient civilization, but even still, it would seem familiar to her. And resting in the very center of this ancient wall, she would see a brilliant blue light, which seemed to be containing some type of living spirit within its protective shell.
The pictures of two faceless figures would then come to life: one a mortal, and one an angel. The mortal would wield a large weapon and, once he struck the center sphere, it would release a spiritual energy that would make him much more than mortal. It would be then, and only then, would the angelic figure embrace this mortal and, with a kiss to its faceless lips, the brilliance of this realm would become completely overwhelming; once again blinding the poor Myrthra before returning her to the deep chamber with her blue-haired protector.
Even though only a second had passed outside this vision, it would have seemed to last for much longer. Krad then turned around to face Meiling; his stance an exact copy of that which the mortal in her vision took before striking the blue orb and uniting with the Angel.
"Meiling..." He called out to the girl as if waiting for her to instruct him on what to do next. She'd gotten the two of them into this mysterious chamber. Maybe she knew what to do next.
There was a crash as the stone doors were struck from the other side. Whatever was chasing them must have been trying to break in. Another smash, and the entire chamber shook. Krad flinched for but a moment, but his eyes never left his partner's. He waited for any type of instruction, and would do his best to follow it. For some reason, he felt as though she would know what to do next.

OOC: Man, that was fun to write. Basically, just tell him to break the orb. All the pretty drawings on the walls are the angel's previous lives. I thought that'd be kinda cool.
