"Krad... you're back so soon? I thought you'd be busy helping the crew with the pod." The captain, at first, seemed shocked, but then the attitude in his voice slowly came forth. He stood from his revolving chair, clad in bright and noble clothes of red, gold and orange. "And who is this... Myrthra. You know its bad luck to bring women aboard a sailing pirate ship."
"We're still in Alliance Space..." Krad's voice was cold now. The calm, relaxed tone he possessed when speaking with Meiling was now gone. It was replaced by a tone as empty as the dark void of space. "What's going on...?"
"Now now, Krad. No need to get so worked up." The captain spoke with a flamboyantly frilled sleeve held above his face.
"I'm serious!" The blue-eyed rogue had a fire in his soul. It burned it enough heat to be felt throughout the room. His eyes then widened as he noticed two dark specs slowly approaching the ship from one of the Alliance planets. "You bastard..."
"Come now, Krad. You've got to see it our way." The captain spoke with the utmost confidence just as the doors to the hallway shut. Two of the crewman armed with blaster rifles stood just behind the blue-haired rogue in a threatening manner. "The Alliance Military has a huge monster of a bounty on you. If we turn you in to them, not only will we get the grand prize, but we'll also be pardoned of our crimes." He cackled a bit before continuing. "It's a win/win! We get the credits and a pardon. Well... more of a win/win for us."
Krad slightly lowered his head, enough for his thick blue hair to cast a bleak shadow over his eyes. A wind, lighter than anything any human could sense, slowly began to creep towards him. Meiling may have been able to feel the subtle breeze brush against the fur of her tail and ears, but it was obvious the others could not sense it.
"So you'll play nice, right? Krad, ol' buddy?" The captain questioned, but he didn't get a response. Krad was too busy focusing. If he pulled too much wind around him too fast, it would create a breeze strong enough for them to feel, but the Alliance Ships were closing in quickly.
"Meiling..." Krad whispered as gently as he could in the Myrthra tongue. If he said it quietly enough, her sensitive ears may still be able to pick up on it. He hoped so. This was a life-or-death situation now. "Get down."
In that instant, the wind swirled around him, forming a shell of airless space allowing him to move free of wind resistance. The captain gasped when he caught on and shouted, "HE'S USING MAGIC!"
By the time the two pirates even had a chance to react Krad was already moving faster than they could reflex. He twisted to the right. His fist, like a guided missile, fired into the rib-cage of the pirate to the right. With a hack of pain the pirate started shooting red beams of energy from the gun, which Krad grabbed bfore bumping him into the other pirate to throw them both off balance.
Ripping the weapon from his opponent's grip, he shoved a foot into his side and pushed him to the floor, then leaned back slightly as a flash of yellow light cut past his face. Looking towards the source, it was the captain with a pistol in hand. He fired another shot, but Krad was able to move with zero wind resistance and was able to dodge the blast before returning fire with the rifle.
One-handing a rifle made it very sporadic and unpredictable, which is why he missed every shot, but the blasts were close enough to force the captain to take cover. One of the pirates tried to get up, but just as Krad took off across the room after Meiling, he began firing on the pirates as well. They rushed out of the way, but could not return fire without risking getting shot themselves.
Krad virtually floated beside the Myrthra and, with his right hand free, held it out for hers. "Time to go." Once he felt her hand in his, he would take off towards the exit with her and escape into the hallway. There were more pirates just outside the doors, though. When they opened, the pirates turned with guns loaded, but Krad was already firing. A blast from his rifle found its way to a gas pipe, causing it to erupt with fire and the force of the explosion blew the pirates right out of their socks.
Taking advantage of this, Krad would lead the Myrthra through the rest of the corridors to his personal bunker so he could make sure he had his things before fleeing the ship via a scout ship. "Rule number two about space:" he said jokingly. "Never trust a pirate..."
